Business Strategy

Today the bussiness strategy is to distribute electrical power and to generate and distribute district heating to consumers in the town of Jakobstad and its neighbourhood. The Utility's turnover during fiscal year 2009 was about 23 MEur. The number of employees was 52.

History

The Utility was founded in 1901 as a company where the town was the major owner and some of the citizens owned smaller parts of the shares. At 1912 the town bought out the private shareholders, and the utility became all owned by the town. Initially the goal was to light the streets of the town.
